In view of its dimensions it belongs to the category of small and/or lower middle class cars. However from its type of use it belongs to the category of the compact MPV* vehicles. In creating the ŠkodaRoomster the developers pursued the goal to design a vehicle with roomy interior and a high measure of safety for the passengers. The optimal profiles of the body were calculated by means of modern calculation methods and model calculations. Thus a high rigidity of the vehicle could be obtained at a relatively low weight.Protected by copyright. The platform consists of the most suitable modules, which were already used in the company. The front part is the module from PQ24, which is used in the ŠkodaFabia and the rear part is the module PQ34, which belongs to the ŠkodaOctavia of the first generation. In order to achieve an optimal wheel base, only the middle part was newly developed and designed.Front part - module PQ24 from ŠkodaFabiaRear part - module PQ34 from ŠkodaOctavia of the first generationProtected by copyright. During the sheet metal processing effective modern processing methods are used, as e.g. hot forming or forming of highstrength profiles of side thresholds, by gradual rolling and welding from blanks of different material thicknesses by means of laser welding, socalled Tailored Blanks.Protected by copyright. Spot welding - - - the most popular procedure a high firmness is obtained in combination with glue via the whole length of the connec tion (prevents vibrations of the panels) high static firmnessWelding under inert gas (MIG, MAG) - - - higher productivity than classical welding use of inert gas when welding MIG (Ar, He) use of active gases for MAG (Ar+CO2, Ar+O2)Laser welding - - - - the welding seams indicate a higher torsion and flexural rigidity than usual welding seams. the welding seams are narrower in case of laser welding the connected parts are thermally less loaded, so that the material properties do not deteriorate (firmness, rigidity, shape...) the laser welding is used e.g. for the connec tion of the side parts with the roofSP62_26Protected by copyright. The glass of the roof is 1124 mm in length and 729 mm in width, the vitreous surface is 0.82 m2. The panorama roof consists of laminated glass, which retains Protected by copyright. The glass distinguishes itself at the same time through improved protection against UV radiation, so that less than 0,03% of the UV radiation penetrates into the interior. Ordinary hardened glass lets through up to 68% of the UV rays. The light permeability of the panorama roof is about 23%. It can be further decreased by two automatic rollers. Each of these rollers covers one half of the panorama roof.SP62_76Note: For the body with panorama roof there is no cross strut within the area of the B-pillar.12GBStructure of the frontAn additional strut with foam material filling was integrated into the front bumper in order to prevent serious injuries to pedestrians in case of collisions with the vehicle.SP62_79foam material fillingadditional strutfront bumperFoam material fillingThe filling consists of polypropylene foam and is placed under the front part of the bumper at the cross member. It is used to absorb the energy which is released in case of a collision at low speed (max. up to 40 km/h) and therefore reduces the risk of serious injuries to pedestrians.Additional strut The strut is out of plastic and positioned at the bottom part of the bumper, thereby improving its total rigidity. In case of a possible collision with a pedestrian, he is thrown onto the hood instead of under the wheels, which could cause substantially serious injuries.Protected by copyright. The Škoda designer and developer mastered this task in a very original way. Until your wife has made up her mind regarding the color of your new Roomster, you and your child may have great fun in glueing together a paper model which is 24 times smaller than the new Škoda. Instructions for assembling the paper model: The necessary tool: Scissors, small knife or scalpel, paper adhesive, ruler, sharp-cut wooden stick and tweezers. The assembly of the model: Cut the side part (1) out. Glue the engine bonnet (5) to the lower edge of the windshield and to the side part (1). Glue the roof (3) together with the rear part (6), glue this part together with the side part (1). Cut the front mask (4) out and put the part into the desired shape and glue together. After the part is dry, glue it together with the engine bonnet (5). Start in the center and proceed to the sides, at this point glue the front mask (4) together with the side part (1). Glue the lower part of the tailgate (7) together with the rear part (6) and the side part (1). About 20 mm in front of the front edge of the rear wheel housing, glue the strut (17) perpendicularly into the body. In the floor (2) - glue the struts (18) between the 10 3 circular wheel installation surfaces. Glue the floor (2) together with the body - begin in the 16, 6 center at the front and continue gluing to the 16a rear. Glue the rear bumper (8) together with the parts (2a) and (9). Pay attention to good 7 5 fitting. Glue the assembled bumper together with the floor (2), the tailgate (7) and the side 8 4 part (1).The wheels consist of the outside (12), inside (13) and the running surfaces (14). After 9 18 the wheels have been glued together, glue the wheels into the wheel housings. Ensure that all wheels touch the base and there is none in the air. Complete the model with the outside mirrors (15, 16) and the roof racks (10).2a 2 13 14 1215, 15a171Protected by copyright. In principle both gearboxes are similar. The difference between the gearbox 02T and 02R is the maximum value of the transferred torque, for which the gearbox is designed. - the manual gearbox 02T is designed for the transfer of a torque up to 200 Nm - the manual gearbox 02R is designed for the transfer of a torque up to 250 Nm There is a further difference in the gradation of the individual gears depending on the used engine types. Technical main highlights: - 5 forward gears + 1 reverse gear - hydraulic actuation of the clutch - the manual gearbox and the differential gear form a unit - the gear pinions of the individual gears are po- sitioned in needle bearings in order to decrea- se the inner friction - double synchronisation of the 1st and 2nd gear (precise shifting) - Inner shifting, the gearshift forks can swivel, the gearshift shaft is inserted into the gearbox from above- lifelong oil filling in the gearbox, no necessary The gearshift diagram of the ŠkodaRoomster is oil change the same as with the models ŠkodaF abia and Copying for private or commercial purposes, in part or in whole, is not permitted Protected by copyright. unless authorised by ŠKODA AUTO A. This is a compact planetary gear with electrohydraulical actuation, which is characterised by low weight and is intended for vehicles with front wheel drive and engine installed crosswise. Technical main features: - the gearbox 09G is designed for the transfer of torque to 250 Nm - Weight 84 kg - Length 350 mm - hydrodynamic torque converter with lockup clutch - Operating mode for automatic and Tiptronic: Highlights of the gearbox: The six forward gears and the reverse gear are created through the arrangement of a simple planetary gear set with a double downstream planetary gear set (Ravigneaux planetary gear set). The planetray gear sets are arranged according to Lepelletier.SP62_67Controlling the gearbox The gearbox 09G makes two operating modes possible: - the dynamic shift system DSP enables the selection of one of two driving modes „D “for the usual style of driving and „S “for the sporty driving - the operating mode of Tiptronic The control of the gearbox is ensured by an outside electronic control unit. The pressure regulator keeps the delivered pressure in the entire fuel system constant. The fuel is delivered to the engine, and/ or into the injection units. The ventilation system of the fuel tank was taken from the model ŠkodaFabia.26GBFuel filter with pressure regulator Component part of the fuel filter is the pressure regulator, which forms a unit with the filter. The fuel filter is attached with the pressure control valve to the fuel tank. Thus the return pipe of the fuel from the engine to the fuel tank is void. The fuel which flows back into the tank has a low temperature. Therefore the temperature of the fuel is lower in the tank and fewer vapours are formed.Fuel lineFuel tankFunction The fuel filter is divided into two chambers: - Chamber with spring - Filter chamber The fuel pump in the fuel tank delivers the fuel first to the control valve of the pressure regulator in the fuel filter, which limits the pressure in the entire fuel system to the required value of 0.4 MPa (4 bar). The ceramic body is partitioned into a multiplicity of parallel arranged, microscopically small ducts, which are alternatively closed. This results in inlet and outlet ducts, which are separated by the filter walls. Only the exhaust gases without particles penetrate into the outlet ducts.GB39Exhaust systemPassive regeneration For the passive regeneration the soot particles are continuously combusted without interference of the engine control. The particle filter close to the engine ensures that for example in motorway mode the exhaust gas temperatures of 350-500°C are achieved. In case of city traffic with a small engine load the exhaust gas temperatures are too low for a passive regeneration of the particle filter. Because no more soot particles can be removed, it leads to a soot accumulation in the filter. As soon as there is a certain soot load in the filter, an active regeneration is initiated via the engine control. This procedure lasts about 10 minutes.
